[ k1, p1 ] repeat to the end -- repeat this row until you get lenght you want.
Bind Off

for the variation (do it close to beginning and end of your scarf) :
row 1 = k3, k5, p5, k5, p5, k5, p5, k3
repeat for 8 rows
row 2 = k3, p5, k5, p5, k5, p5, k5, k3
repeat for 8 rows.
